Jiwei Product Achieves SIL2/SIL3 Functional Safety Certification
Jiwei’s Ring-11 Series Liquid Level Switch recently passed the Functional Safety Assessment conducted by the Safety and Security Center of Instrumentation Technology & Economy Institution in Beijing, achieving SIL2/SIL3 Functional Safety Certification. This accomplishment marks Jiwei as the first Chinese brand to attain SIL2/SIL3 certification in the level measurement industry. It demonstrates Jiwei’s adherence to international safety standards and its commitment to meeting the highest safety requirements for petrochemical production processes.
The SIL certification process spanned over a year, during which the center conducted a thorough audit and assessment of the Ring-11 Series Liquid Level Switch in strict accordance with IEC 61508 requirements. This included evaluating safety requirements, developing a safety plan, conducting requirement tracking matrix analysis, performing detailed FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis), comprehensive hardware design and documentation, system integration testing, fault insertion testing, EMC testing, factory inspections, and more.
The Ring-11 Series Liquid Level Switch is a high-reliability control switch designed specifically for liquid level measurement applications. As outlined in its safety manual, the switch reliably outputs defined operation signals and responds with designated safety signals when threshold levels are reached or false signals are detected. It supports configuration with a two-wire system (NAMUR or 8mA/16mA current jump), relay and transistor outputs, and is equipped with SC3 systematic capability and SIL2/SIL3 hardware safety integrity protection.
